Testimonials
High School Teacher - Salem, Wisconsin
"I want to take this opportunity to extend my
appreciation for visiting my classroom. Your personal experience enabled me to help my students to better understand the
world around them in a realistic setting. Sharing your situation with my students allowed them to evaluate some of their
own behaviors, better understand the laws, and will hopefully assist them to make better decisions in life.
Your
personal approach has touched the hearts of many of my students and I am sure that your words will come back to them if not
today, in the future as they embark on the adulthood.
As a teacher, I thank you for wanting to encourage tomorrow's
young adults to make responsible decisions. It takes so much more than a textbook and a teacher to educate children and I
thank you for helping me.
I wish you well in your endeavors and hope that your words will touch the lives of many
people. We will be thinking of you in the future and look forward to hearing from you."
Police
Officer Feedback - Kenosha, Wisconsin
"Thank you for presenting your story…. Throughout your presentation
you make great references to a personal story. I believe that it is personal stories like these that will cause students
to change their opinions and ultimately their behaviors. If enough of us adults keep telling students about the pitfalls
of dangerous choices and behaviors we can effect a change.
Often time's students believe that they are "bullet
proof". That they can go through life without bad things happening to them. I think that you offered them a perspective
that even those on top of the world can have it all come crashing down.
It is impossible to know when and where a student
in one of those classes will be when your words come back to them and they make a better choice for hearing those words in
their head, yet I know it will happen. Thank you for spending your morning making a difference in for our students."
Athletic Coach - Kenosha, Wisconsin
"When you contacted me and told me of the situation you
were involved in and asked for the opportunity to address my football players, I was touched by the concern you expressed
for them as athletes and human beings who, at the formative stage at their lives, might be susceptible to the same temptations
that put you in your predicament. As my staff and I listened during your address to the varsity and junior
varsity football players, I was struck by the sincerity of your talk and the poignant impact it seemed to have on many of
the young kids who face the same set of adult choices and responsibilities that you talked about.
As I think it perfectly
struck a tone with the kids, your stressing of "responsibility" was something that they seemed genuinely impressed with, because
of your former status as a star football player.
When you were talking to them about having everything in terms of
athletic and scholastic achievement, financial rewards and other personal goals and yet be on the edge of losing them all,
it made, what I take to be, a lasting impression with many of the kids who attended.
As you can see from the audience
surveys which I have returned to you, many of the kids felt your admissions as to the fragile hold that we all have as responsible
role models, I can conclude that it was a good thing you did both for my student athletes, my staff and myself. I can also
see that the process is something that allows you to learn from your own mistakes."
